How To Start a Facebook Shop

If you’re a small business just getting started and not sure if you want to invest in a commerce manager like Shopify or Etsy

OR

You have an e-commerce website already and want to additionally market your products on Facebook and Instagram, you’ve come to the right place!

While Facebook Shops doesn’t give you as many e-commerce features as other commerce managers, you will have everything you need for you to start selling now.

What You Need

  • A business email (i.e. yourbusiness@gmail.com)
  • A Facebook account
  • A Facebook page for your business
  • Facebook business account
  • An Instagram account (optional)
  • A list of products along with a photo and description of each

Getting Started

  1. Go to your Facebook page
  2. Select “Manage Shop”
  3. Select “Start Shop Setup”
  4. Choose a way to sell 
    1. redirect people to your website
    2. messaging through WhatsApp, Instagram Direct, or Messenger
  5. Connect a business account
  6. Put in your business email address
  7. Create a new catalogue by writing in a name
  8. Review and agree to Policies

Now you can start adding items to your catalogue!

How to add items to your catalogue

1. Select “Manage Shop”

2. Select “Items”



3. Upload an image of your product

4. Add a title for the product

5. Add a description of your product

6. Add a link to the website or page where people can view more detail

Tip:  If you don’t have a website, redirect them to your Facebook page!

7. Add a price

    Tip: You can change the currency if needed!

    8. Add a condition (new, refurbished, used - good, fair, or like new)

      You can either add products manually (one at a time) or through bulk upload

      9. Select whether it is visible and available for customers

      10. Add variants (if applicable)

           a. This can be colour, size, pattern, and more!

        Publish your shop!

        People can see your shop once it is reviewed and approved by Facebook. This process can take up to 4 weeks and they will email you once it’s approved.

        Take time to celebrate your accomplishment!

        Once you've added products to your shop, you can edit your shop's branding and organization to suit it to you and your personal brand.
